A method and an apparatus for adaptively suppressing disturbance and a disc drive using the same are provided to minimize the degradation of system performance due to the disturbance by taking into consideration the stability of a system. An output signal which is created in response to the servo control of a system is detected. The detected output signal is subject to FFT(Fast Fourier Transform). A frequency component causing the maximum intensity of the output signal which is subject to the FFT is estimated as a frequency component of disturbance. Parameter values which determine the characteristic of a disturbance compensation servo control loop including a disturbance observer are optimized based on the estimated frequency component(S630).
