APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR CELL RESELECTION IN MOBILE COMMUNICATION TERMINAL

An apparatus and a method for reselection in a mobile communication terminal are provided to reselect a cell in a wireless environment effectively which is changed according to time in consideration of the strength of receiving signals and channel quality. A method for determining cell reselection in a mobile communication system comprises the following steps of: producing a threshold value in consideration of channel quality which decreases as an SNR(Signal to Noise Ratio) is increased and increases as the SNR is decreased(200); determining whether the mobile communication system is in a specific wireless environment by using the threshold value considering the channel quality(202); and reselecting a cell when the cell reselection reference value of a neighbor cell is greater than a sum of cell reselection weight being in inverse proportion to the threshold value considering the channel quality and the cell reselection reference value of a serving cell in the specific wireless environment(204~208).
