A method for managing medium transmission quality in a home network is provided to make a large contribution to guarantee transmission quality of a medium on a home network which does not provide checking information regarding data transmission quality. A method for managing medium transmission quality in a home network comprises the following several steps. A control point attains a URL of a medium file and information on metadata from a medium server via a browse action in accordance with a user's request(S10). If a user requests one file among the browsed medium files to be stream or regenerated, the control point calls a "Prepare Receive Test Data" action and transmits information on the media file to be tested(S11). According as a "Receive Test Data" action is called and transmission for testing transmission quality of medium data is triggered, a media renderer requests transmission of test data to the medium server based on the received information via the action and realizes streaming of the test data(S12). If the test data is transmitted from the medium server to the medium renderer, the medium renderer finishes the transmission of the medium data streamed from the medium server and generates a Current Qos" event for notifying its transmission quality, namely information on the number of received bits per second(S13).
