<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cell including a nickel hydroxide-based compound and manganese dioxide serving as positive electrode active materials, whose capacity is high and capacity maintenance rate during storage is excellent. <P>SOLUTION: An alkaline cell including nickel oxyhydroxide-based compound and manganese dioxide serving as positive electrode active materials is provided by (1) optimizing a ratio of a theoretical negative electrode capacity to a theoretical positive electrode capacity, (2) optimizing a ratio of an electrolyte to the theoretical positive electrode capacity and (3) determining the optimal range of an electric conductivity of an alkali electrolyte. Specifically, in the cell, the ratio of the alkali electrolyte to the theoretical positive electrode capacity is in the range of 0.8 to 1.2 ml/Ah, and the alkali electrolyte is constituted of at least one or more chosen from potassium hydroxide, sodium hydroxide and lithium hydroxide, and its electric conductivity is 0.2 S/cm or more. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
