PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for pressing a cover against a moving body block to be printed satisfying high requirement relating to the quality of products to be realized. SOLUTION: The device for pressing the cover 8 against the block 2 moving in a conveying direction 6 has a pressing base 16 movable in a vertical direction 12 and at least a pressing rail 24 movable in a horizontal direction. The drive unit 32 of the pressing rail 24 is connected with a control unit 120 via a connecting means 124, thereby a drive unit 32 can be operated using a variable control curved line 122, and as the result, the movement of the pressing rail 24 for example its stroke or stroke step can be adjusted to a current job.
