PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for effectively desulfurizing molten iron with which in the case of applying the desulfurizing treatment to the molten iron by using a mechanical stirring type desulfurizing apparatus, a comparatively simple facility is used and fine granular desulfurizing agent excellent in reactivity is efficiently added into the molten iron and the dispersion of the desulfurizing agent in the molten iron is promoted. SOLUTION: The desulfurizing treatment is applied by top-blown-adding the desulfurizing agent together with gas for carrying through a top-blown lance 5 on the surface of the molten iron 3 while stirring with a stirring blade 4 at the supplying speed of the desulfurizing agent 7 at≤1.6 kg/min per ton of the molten iron.
