PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for safely and inexpensively producing a corresponding optically active carboxylic acid compound from an acylated camphorsultam. SOLUTION: The method for safely and inexpensively producing the corresponding optically active carboxylic acid compound involves hydrolyzing an optically active acylated camphorsultam in the presence of a branched alkanol with an aqueous solution of an alkaline earth metal hydroxide.
