PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing carbon nanotubes by which carbon nanotubes can be manufactured with a high yield while suppressing byproduct of impurities. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing single wall carbon nanotubes is characterized in that the method is a vapor phase flow method and that a source mixture comprising catalyst metal particles as reversed micelle in a hydrocarbon solvent is rendered into a fume state and supplied together with carbon dioxide gas and hydrogen gas as a carrier gas to a heated reaction pipe.
