PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for hydroforming a metallic tube which cause no galling and biting of material occurring in the mating parts of upper and lower dies and can form even a high-strength and low-ductility tube into a shape having a sharply radiused corner without bursting during the forming. SOLUTION: A pair of right and left dies 3, 3 having a die shape which the right and the left of a part to be formed of the metallic tube are made to follow are arranged in the mating parts of a pair of upper and lower dies 1, 2 having a die shape which the upper and lower parts of a part to be formed of the metallic tube 10 are made to follow and are opposed so as can to be clamped and released. The metallic tube is charged in the forming space which is formed with these upper, lower, right and left dies and the upper and lower dies are clamped in the state in which internal pressure by liquid is loaded on the tube or the state in which the tube is forced in, as further loading compressive force in the axial direction of the tube on the tube end parts of the tube.
