PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for continuously casting a steel by which a cast slab capable of coping with the recent severe quality request can be produced by efficiently restraining center segregation in a continuous cast slab. SOLUTION: When molten steel is continuously cast by impressing a static magnetic field in the thickness direction of the cast slab from a static magnetic field generating unit 16 at the end stage of solidification in the cast slab 12 cast in a continuous caster 1, the static magnetic field is impressed while shifting the static magnetic field generating unit so as to match to the casting speed of the cast slab. In such way, the relative shift between the solidified shell 13 in the cast slab and non-solidified phase 14 in the cast slab is fully restrained by such impression, that is, since the shifting of remaining molten steel is prevented, the center segregation in the cast slab can be reduced.
