PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the time to dry hands with a stronger high-pressure air current generated by inputting the electric power larger than the capacity of a commercial AC power supply in an air-current generating motor disposed in a hand dryer. SOLUTION: A smoothing circuit 51 converts the commercial AC power source 6 to DC power. A charging circuit 53 charges an electric double-layered capacitor 52 with the power of the commercial power supply when a booster circuit 54 is not operated under the control of a control circuit 57. The booster circuit 54 discharges the power of the electric double-layered capacitor 52 under the control of the control circuit 57. When a hand insertion detection signal is input from a hand insertion detection means disposed in a hand insertion part, the control circuit 57 controls the booster circuit 54 and a driving circuit 56, and provides a high-pressure air current generating motor 55 with the result of addition of the stored power in the electric double-layered capacitor to the power of the commercial power supply to drive the motor 55.
