<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method, for manufacturing an OA roller with an elastic layer around a core 1, comprising the following steps: first to fit a center hole of a first cap 5 to one end of the core 1, insert the core 1 fitted to the first cap 5 into a cylindrical mold 21 with both open ends, arranged with a center axis CL directed horizontally and block one opening part 22 of the mold 21 with the first cap 5, and thus, enable easier and smoother insertion of a second cap 7 into the other end of the core 1 than conventionally it does, when the center hole of the second cap 7 is fitted to the other end of the core 1. <P>SOLUTION: A string 25 which is arranged below the center axis CL on the other opening part 23 side of the mold 21 and spread across the center axis CL of the mold 21 to the right and the left, is made to ascend. Thus, the other end of the core 1 is lifted and the core 1 is retained on the center axis CL of the mold 21.
