PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wood crusher which requires no consuming parts and can resume operation simply and rapidly. SOLUTION: The wood crusher is equipped with a feed conveyor 26 for sending wood to be crushed into a crushing chamber 40, the crushing rotor 84 arranged in the crushing chamber 40 and primarily crushing the wood to be crushed by the crushing bit 86 provided to the outer periphery thereof, the anvil 92 provided to an anvil arm 76 so as to be fronted to the crushing chamber 40 and secondarily crushing the crushed pieces obtained by primary crushing and an over load avoiding device 94 for avoiding overload when the overload is caused by the biting of metal foreign matter in the gap between the crushing bit 86 and the anvil 92. The overload avoiding device 94 has the receiving member 98 provided to the anvil arm 76 and the contact member 106 brought into contact with the receiving member 98 upon the reception of pressing force to produce a production static friction force with respect to the receiving member 98. When an overload is produced in the anvil 92, the anvil arm 76 overcomes the static friction force between the receiving member 98 and the contact member 106 to be revolved to release the contact of the receiving member 98 and the contact member 106.
