PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner which can more effectively remove fine dust adhering to a pleated filter by a vibration, and at the same time, can prevent the filter surfaces of the wave-form pleats of the pleated filter from being damaged when the vibration is imparted. SOLUTION: This vacuum cleaner includes a vacuum cleaner body 1, the pleated filter 19, and a dust removing means (dust removing device 29) for the pleated filter 19. In this case, the vacuum cleaner body 1 has a dust collecting chamber 13a, and an electric blower 4 which applies a suction negative pressure to the dust collecting chamber 13a. The pleated filter 19 is arranged between the dust collecting chamber 13a and the suction port 4a of the electric blower 4, and also, has a plurality of pleats 24 of which the cross sectional shape is a wave form. In addition, the vacuum cleaner is equipped with beating members 30, and a beating member driving means 31. In this case, a plurality of the beating members 30 are arranged in the arranging directions of the plurality of pleats 24, and also, are provided in a manner to respectively be able to directly beat the top parts 24b of the plurality of pleats 24. The beating member driving means 31 respectively advance/retract-drives the plurality of beating members 30 to the top parts 24b of the plurality of pleats 24. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
