The device (1) has a measuring apparatus (3) with an electrode spaced apart from another electrode, and an energy source such as power source, electrically connected with both electrodes. The energy source is connected with two spaced apart connection points of the latter electrode such that the source is connected parallel with respect to the latter electrode. The source is connected with the former electrode above a measuring device to provide a characteristic proportion of an amount of filling of a liquid/foam mixture found in a milk collection container (2).
