The battery has flow channel plates (4a, 4b) arranged parallel to perpendicular edges of electrodes and forming left-and right sided flow channels (5a, 5b) between the plates and side walls. Discharge plates (6a, 6b) are connected with an upper end section of the plates, above an upper surface (3a) of an electrolyte (3), which exhausts upward by the discharge plates. The discharge plates have openings (7) distributed over an entire surface, where the openings are arranged with respect to size and distribution such that the electrolyte is distributed evenly on the upper surface.
