<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a single-phase induction motor in which starting torque can be maximized, and power factor can be improved sharply by controlling the phase during operation. <P>SOLUTION: The single-phase induction motor 2 comprises a single-phase bridge circuit connected between the main winding 21 and the auxiliary winding 22 of the single-phase induction motor where two sets of half-bridge connection of two self-arc-distinguishing elements are combined as full-bridge connection, an MERS 3 consisting of an energy storage capacitor C connected with the joint of half-bridges and serves like a variable capacity series capacitor when each self-arc-distinguishing element is switched in synchronism with the power supply period, and a current switch control circuit 4 for making snubber energy storable in three storage capacitors C when two currents are turned off by providing a timing for turning three self-arc-distinguishing elements on/off and turning two currents on/off at least once during half period. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
