<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motor drive device that improves the communication efficiency in-between high-order communication equipment, while facilitating reading-in or writing-in of a parameter from the high-order communications equipment, even when the motor drive device changes a communication address of the parameter due to upgrade or the like, and its parameter setting method. <P>SOLUTION: A storage part 17 is provided with a communication address storage part 172 for storing the relation between the communication address of the parameter and the parameter number. A control part 11 is provided with a parameter extraction part 18 for extracting the parameter number, by inputting the communication address of the parameter used, when reading-in or writing-in of the parameter of the motor drive device 10 are executed from the high-order communications equipment 50.
