摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make warming-up of a catalyst compatible with warming-up of an engine body by reducing the expansion ratio without reducing the compression ratio. <P>SOLUTION: An intake compression cylinder 6-15 shouldering an intake stroke/a compression stroke and an expansion exhaust cylinder 6-16 shouldering an expansion stroke/an exhaust stroke, are adjacently arranged, and the four strokes are completed in one rotation. This internal combustion engine has an intake valve 6-1, a compression valve 6-2, an exhaust valve 6-3 and a spark plug 6-4. An intake compression piston 6-5 and a crankshaft 6-11 are connected by an intake compression connecting rod 6-8. An expansion exhaust piston 6-6 is interlocked with the crankshaft 6-11 via a three-dimensional cam 6-10.
