PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for estimating the traveling positions of vehicles and capable of accurately estimating the traveling positions of vehicles in a width direction of a road without having to correct measuring position data in consideration of the effect of errors even in the case that the measuring position data contains errors due to the effects of multipath. SOLUTION: In the system for estimating the traveling positions of vehicles, a communication part 403 receives travel track information from road beacons 3 via a communication line 5 as shown in Fig. A travel track analysis part 404 implements processings of travel track analysis and estimates the raveling position of a vehicle 100 in a road width direction on the basis of variations of measuring position data of the travel track reception information. A traffic information providing part 405 implements processings of travel information provision. A multipath determination part 406 creates link-multipath corresponding data and lane-variation corresponding data. A control part 407 controls processings of a storage part 400; a GPS processing part 402; the communication part 403; the travel track analysis part 404; the traffic information providing part 405; and the multipath determination part 406.
