PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To raise contrast ratio and to raise durability by reducing interface reflection of an optical element and an optical path deflection element. SOLUTION: The contrast ratio is raised by reducing reflection on each interface inside the optical deflection element 1 by forming an orientation film 9 provided between a pair of a substrate 8 and a liquid crystal layer of a pair of electric field formation elements constituting the optical path deflection element 1 by varying a refractive index from a refractive index of the substrate 8 to a refractive index of the liquid crystal layer 4.
