PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the thickness of a rail device and prevents a sliding door from being derailed by increasing the depth of a rail groove while maintaining the height of a rail for the sliding door at a low level. SOLUTION: This rail device 5 comprises at least a pair of rail bodies 6, 6 and a connection member 15 formed of a rigid metal sheet molded material so connecting the rail bodies 6, 6 to each other that the rail groove T for fitting a sash roller formed of a recessed groove is formed therebetween. At least the bottom surface part T1 of the rail groove T is formed by the connection member 5. Since the thickness of the bottom surface part T1 of the rail groove T is reduced by the connection member 15 made of the rigid metal sheet molded material, the depth of the rail groove T can be increased accordingly.
