PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a passenger conveyer, preventing the operation of a safety device by reducing the load acting on foreign matter even when the foreign matter is caught between an entering preventive fence and a moving hand rail. SOLUTION: This passenger conveyer includes: a detector 9 provided in a get-in and -out port to operate a step tread 4 and the moving handrail 5 on detecting a user; and an entering preventive fence 10, erected in the get-in-and-out port, disposed between the detector 9 and a manual part 18 to prevent a user from getting in and out outside of the detecting position of the detector 9. A newel part 8 side end part of the entering preventive fence 10 is freely moved by the external force, whereby when foreign matter 12 is caught between the entering preventive fence 10 and the moving handrail 5, the newel part 8 side end of the entering preventive fence 10 can be easily moved.
