TWO STAGE METHODS FOR EXAMINING NUCLEIC ACID BY USING ONE AND THE SAME SAMPLE

It is intended to provide a method of examining whether or not a target sequence is contained in a nucleic acid sample characterized by comprising first conducting a simple examination on the nucleic acid sample and then conducting a close examination on the same sample in the case where it is determined that the target sequence is contained in the sample or in the case where it is determined that the target sequence is not contained therein; and a method of examining whether or not a target sequence is contained in a definite amount or more in a nucleic acid sample characterized by comprising first conducting a simple quantitative examination on the nucleic acid sample and then conducting a close examination on the same sample in the case where it is determined that the target sequence is contained therein in a definite amount or more. According to these methods, it is possible to identify an individual, a species, a habitat or the like at an extremely high reliability compared with the existing techniques.
