<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of an electrode catalyst layer keeping mechanical intensity, and having a high gas dispersion property in a pattern shape in a thickness direction to a polyelectrolyte membrane, and a high effective utilization factor of a catalyst, in an electrode catalyst layer for a solid polyelectrolyte fuel cell. <P>SOLUTION: The electrode catalyst layer 1 is formed by arranging a gas diffusion layer 2, with catalyst ink directly coated, on a flat base material 3 structured in a pattern shape by a ferromagnet and a feeble magnet. The coating operation is performed in a magnetic field having a flux density distribution, and pores in the electrode catalyst layer 1 are made to have an orientation tendency in a thickness direction to a polyelectrolyte membrane by magnetic power. Preferably, at least a material having different magnetic susceptibility from a catalyst-carrying carbon is dissolved in a catalyst ink to increase a difference of magnetic susceptibility. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
