<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus designed such that displacement and color shift change elements arising in the image forming apparatus are reduced with higher accuracy and with an inexpensive means. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus forms an image in such a manner that color toner images formed on corresponding rotated image carriers are directly transferred onto an endless carrier or a transfer material held on the endless carrier rotated in contact with the plurality of image carriers. The image forming apparatus includes: a phase calculating means 106 that extracts the periodic rotation change elements of the plurality of image carriers from periodic rotation change elements arising in the image forming apparatus and calculates their respective rotation phases of the image carriers; and a rotation phase adjusting means that independently adjusts the rotation stop phases of the image carriers based upon the calculation results of the phase calculating means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
