PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyamideimide resin having excellent adhesiveness as a binder for constituting electrodes for lithium ion secondary batteries. SOLUTION: This polyamideimide resin comprising 4,4'-diaminodiphenyl ether residues and m-phenylenediamine residues in a molar ratio of 6:4 to 8:2 is characterized by having an inherent viscosity of 0.2 to 2.0 dl/g, a residual carboxyl group content of 0.05 to 0.40 mmol/g, and a gelation activity of <3.0 wt.% represented by the following expression, after treated in atmosphere at 280°C for two hours.
