PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make both of two display videos coming from respective video display devices observable in a brightened state by constructing a video display system considering reflection characteristics of respective optical path combiners of the respective video display devices. SOLUTION: The device on the side farther from an observer has a first optical path combiner to reflect light of a first video displayed with a first video display element, and on the other hand to transmit light of an external image. The device on the side closer to the observer has a second optical path combiner to reflect light of a second video displayed with a second video display element, and on the other hand to transmit the light of the external image obtained through the first optical path combiner and the light of the first video. On an optical path through which the light of the external image proceeds toward a pupil of the observer via the first and second optical path combiners, a reflection wavelength region P of the second optical path combiner is different from a reflection wavelength region Q of the first optical path combiner. Thereby when the light of the first image passes through the second optical path combiner, passing light quantity is not reduced by reflection on the second optical path combiner.
