PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely detect a disk diameter not only for a general disk but also for a partially transparent disk. SOLUTION: The disk player for loading the disk inserted to an insertion port to the inner side of a main body and reproducing it comprises a pair of gate members parted almost at the center and disposed to the insertion port to be withdrawn to the side part of the insertion port while being abutted to the outer peripheral part of an inserted disk and turned, a first detection part SWA for detecting that the turning angle of the gate members is equal to or more than a first turning angle accompanying the passing of the disk, and a second detection part SWB for detecting that the turning angle of the gate members is equal to or more than a second turning angle larger than the first turning angle accompanying the passing of the disk. On the basis of the temporal change of the detection state of the first detection part SWA and the detection state of the second detection part SWB accompanying loading, the diameter of the disk of a loading object is discriminated.
