PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording medium positioning mechanism capable of accurately positioning plural kinds of recording mediums with cartridges with a simple construction. SOLUTION: The recording medium positioning mechanism has: a tray 6 provided with a placing part on which the plural kinds of recording mediums A (B) are placed; an abutment member 15a abutting on a prescribed part of the cartridge of the placed recording medium; a positioning member 14a inserted in a hole 12a (13a) for positioning provided in the cartridge of the recording medium; and a positioning member positioning mechanism positioning the position of the positioning member 14a according to the position of the abutment member 15a when the abutment member abuts on the prescribed part of the cartridge of the recording medium.
