PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a welt seaming machine which realizes backtack in individual pitch, and enables burden of pitch setting work to be reduced. SOLUTION: A cloth cutting mechanism 50 which makes a pocket hole S in base fabric N and welt garment B, a stitch-forming mechanism 40, a relative feeding mechanism 20, 95 which can alter sewing pitch for every stitch, a storage means 71 which memorizes sewing data Dv consisting of backtack needle number L and fixed sewing pitch P<SB>t</SB>, a pattern selection means 85 which chooses the sewing data, a control means 80 which forms backtack stitched according to the selected sewing data, a common backtack data storage means 71 which memorizes common backtack data Dc which define sewing pitch P<SB>f1</SB>-P<SB>fn</SB>for every stitch and a relative displacement setting means 85 which sets sewing pitch of the common backtack data are incorporated, and the selection means makes controls to form backtack stitches according to the backtack needle number set in the selected sewing data and the sewing pitch relative displacement for every stitch set in the common backtack data.
