A hydraulic filter assembly (10) includes a housing (54) mounted to a manifold (52) which has a first inlet port (56), a second inlet port (58) and an outlet port (60). The housing (54) encloses a hollow outer filter element (64) and a hollow inner filter element (62) spaced apart from and received within the outer filter element. The housing (54) and the outer filter element (64) enclose an outer chamber (66) therebetween, the outer filter element (64) and the inner filter element (62) enclose a middle chamber (70) therebetween, and the inner filter element (62) surround an inner chamber (68). The manifold (52) has a first passage (57) communicating the first inlet port (56) to the inner chamber (68), a second passage (55) communicating the second inlet port (58) to the outer chamber (66), and a third passage communicating the middle chamber (70) to the outlet port (60). As a result, fluid flows from the outer chamber (66) to the middle chamber (70) via the outer filter element (64) and so that fluid flows from the inner chamber (68) to the middle chamber (70) via the inner filter element (62).
