PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oscillation mode stabilizing method for preventing multimode oscillation, and enlarging a single mode oscillation wavelength variable range. SOLUTION: A wavelength intervalΔλbetween a main mode and an adjacent mode of a filter is set to be larger than a desired wavelength variable regionΔλ<SB>c</SB>. When an optical path length difference of a wavelength filter is chirp-modulated (chirped); an adjacent mode suppression ratio to the main mode by chirping, a light confinement coefficient of an active layer and the active layer length, and the desired wavelength variable regionΔλ<SB>c</SB>, are set in a prescribed relation.
