PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an analyzing method for evaluating an extremely small amount of a soda ash component (the total amount of a soda ash component containing a Wegsheider salt) present on the surface of a crystal particle of sodium hydrogencarbonate. SOLUTION: A phenolphthalein solution containing 0.1-2 mass% of phenolphthalein, 10-90 mass% of at least one alcohol selected from the group consisting of methyl alcohol, ethyl alcohol and propyl alcohol and the remainder of water is dripped on the crystal particle of sodium hydrogencarbonate and the color phase change based on the discoloration of phenolphthalein on the crystal particle of sodium hydrogencarbonate is observed to evaluate the amount of the soda ash component on the surface of the crystal particle of sodium hydrogencarbonate.
