PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To start rotation operation of a gage head only by linear insertion operation of the gage head 10 into a bearing W; to heighten speed of the insertion operation; and to cope smoothly with a high-speed bearing. SOLUTION: A projection 15 of the gage head is inserted between each roller 3 of this shell type needle roller bearing W, and the roller 3 is pushed and rolled by the projection. Since rolling by pushing the roller 3 is not performed only by friction between the roller and the gage head, the roller is rolled surely following rotation regardless of rotational speed of the gage head. By the linear insertion operation of the gage head, the pressing member can be inserted between each roller. Since the projection 15 is provided on the outer circumferential surface of a disk body 12 having the same diameter as the diameter of the rolling inside face of the roller or a smaller diameter than it, as for the insertion operation of the gage head into the roller bearing, the insertion speed can be selected freely, if the gage head is positioned so that each projection 15 is inserted smoothly between each roller, and that the disk body is inserted smoothly into the rolling inside face formed by the roller.
