PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas lighter capable of releasing a fuel gas to the external by a simple operation in discarding and the like. SOLUTION: In this gas lighter composed of a lighter body 1 storing a fuel gas, a valve mechanism for jetting the fuel gas from a nozzle 21 when the nozzle 21 disposed at an upper portion is pulled up, an operation lever 3 provided with an engagement portion 31 engaged with the nozzle 21 at its one end side and a pressing portion 32 at the other end side, and oscillatably supported on the lighter body 1, an ignition means 4 for igniting the fuel gas jetted from the nozzle 21, and a cover 5 surrounding the circumference of the nozzle 21, an operation lever 3 is supported by an insertion piece 65 detachably mounted on the lighter body 1, so that a rising state of the engagement portion 31 is kept to degas.
