PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To safely perform the carry-in of bricks when the bricks are laid at the furnace bottom part in a converter, in which a term needed to the repair of the converter is not made too long and the working efficiency is not lowered. SOLUTION: When the brick-laying at the furnace bottom part in the converter is performed, a brick drop-down preventive protector 11 obtained by arranging one or more of movable protective doors 11a fixable at an optional position at the lower end part, is set by inserting from the furnace hole 4a at the upper part of the converter 4. A pallet 2 is hung down into the brick drop-down preventive protector 11 under state of covering with a brick scattering preventive case 12, and the brick-laying at the furnace bottom portion in the converter while carrying the brick 1 on a pallet 2 from the lower end of the brick drop-down preventive protector 11, is performed. In this way, the brick and the pallet are not sprung out to the outer part of the protector for preventing the brick drop-down and the safety of workers for constructing the furnace can be secured.
