PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mop yarn hardly getting loose, excellent in durability and tough instead of conventional mop yarns, which have leading ends left as are without treatment so that they are readily untwisted and fiber bundles get gradually loose when washed in a washing machine, thereby deteriorating cleaning force and further being low in durability and lacking toughness for effectively advancing cleaning. SOLUTION: A long corded fiber bundle is folded zigzag in a prescribed width and in a prescribed thickness to be a rectangle as a whole, to the center of which a ground fabric having a shape of a strip of paper is attached. Two adjacent parts of a folded fiber bundle are twisted and wound around each other. They have their tip ends not left as they are, so that they are prevented from getting loose. Since two adjacent parts of a folded fiber bundle are twisted and wound around each other, they become hard and very tough. As a result, when they are pressed against a floor surface or the like, friction applied to the floor surface and the resultant scraping force are very strong to effectively advance cleaning.
