PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal head and a printer which can prevent radiation of heat from electrodes. SOLUTION: The thermal head is equipped with a glass layer 21 where a groove 26 is formed inside, a heating resistor 22 set outside of the glass layer 21, and a pair of electrodes 23a and 23b set on both sides of the heating resistor 22. The heating resistor 22 faced from between a pair of the electrodes 23a and 23b is made to be a heating part 22a. At least either one electrode 23a (23b) has a width of an end of the opposite side to the heating part 22a made narrower than a width of an end of the heating part 22a side.
