Pellets of carbon black and ZnO, containing preferably 1-40% ZnO, are produced by wet pelletizing a mixture of carbon black and ZnO or a ZnO source and drying. In Fig. 1 (not shown) a dispersion of ZnO or a solution of a Zn salt, e.g. Zn formate from tanks 2 or 3 and carbon black from 22 are fed into pin mixer 20, and the pellets formed drop into baffled rotary drum drier 45 heated internally and externally by combustion products. In Fig. 4 (not shown) dry ZnO and carbon black from 63 and 64 are fed into hopper 80 and thence through zig-zag mixer 81, ball mill 83, pin mixer 86 supplied with pelletizing water into a rotary drier. The drying may be effected at 280 DEG C. for 4 hours.
