The yard stick has linked sticks (A) made from a metal-free material, where the end sticks (1, 10) are defined below the linked sticks. One of the sticks (1, 10) is connected with a magnet unit (M), which exerts a magnetic attractive force on one of the opposite flat sides (11, 12) of the end sticks. The magnet unit possesses a flat side (17), which lies parallel to the opposite sides of the corresponding sticks. The magnet unit serves to adhere the sticks (A) on a ferrous metal surface of an object (C) during the metal surface measurement.
