<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a negative electrode for a lithium secondary battery having substantially higher capacity per volume than the conventional one and to provide the lithium secondary battery using the negative electrode. <P>SOLUTION: The negative electrode for the lithium secondary battery has a current collector 3 and an active material layer 4 formed on the current collector 3, the active material layer 4 contains at least two layers of a first layer 1 containing an element forming alloy with lithium and a second layer 2 containing metal as a constituting material, the element forming alloy with lithium is at least one selected from the group comprising silicon and germanium, the metal is nickel, and the thickness of the second layer is 0.8 mm or less. Since the vacancies of the active material layer 4 can be made unnecessary, the capacity per volume of the active material layer can be increased, and the capacity per volume of the lithium secondary battery using the negative electrode for the lithium secondary battery is enhanced. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
