<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sensing element which can be applied to a sensing apparatus for sensing a target substance by using plasmon resonance and can improve sensitivity of the sensing apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The sensing element which is employed in the sensing apparatus for sensing the target substance in a specimen by using the plasmon resonance, comprises a substrate and a plurality of metal members arranged on the substrate.
