PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video recording apparatus whereby a user can record whole desired video audio information even on the occurrence of an accident during recording. SOLUTION: When recording to a DVD is started, compression information is sequentially stored in a ring buffer 4, and a DVD drive 6 records the compression information recorded in the ring buffer 4 to the DVD and a hard disk drive 5 records the compression information recorded in the ring buffer 4 to a hard disk every time a prescribed amount of the compression information is stored in the ring buffer 4, if a write error takes place during recording to the DVD or the remaining recordable capacity in the DVD reaches zero, the DVD drive 6 stops the recording, the hard disk drive 5 records a prescribed amount of the compression information whose recording to the DVD is interrupted to the hard disk, and thereafter, every time the prescribed amount of the compression information is stored in the ring buffer 4, the hard disk drive 5 records the compression information recorded in the ring buffer 4 to the hard disk.
