PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide polyester which has hydrolysis resistant property even when used for manufacture of toner for electrophotography including a particulation step of a raw material in an aqueous medium or solution, and toner for electrophotography which contains the polyester and has superior storage property and fixing property. SOLUTION: Disclosed are the polyester for electrophotographic toner which is used for the manufacture of the toner including the particulation step of raw material components in the aqueous medium or solution and obtained by condensing and polymerizing an alcohol component and a carboxylic acid component containing at least one kind selected between alkyl succinic acid and alkenyl succinic acid; and the toner for electrophotography containing polyester for toner.
