PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a locking device for a slide with a simple structure capable of instantaneously locking a slide at an optional position, and to provide a press provided therewith. SOLUTION: Each locking unit 42 with one hydraulic cylinder structure is composed in such a manner that it is provided with an engagement pawl freely projecting/recessing toward a space between the tooth of a helical gear stopped linked with the slide of a press, and the locking units 42 are arranged in parallel along the thickness direction of the helical gear, so as to be a locking device 40. Then, the arranging positions among the locking units 42 are set, while the helical gear rotates by one tooth, in such a manner that the engagement pawl 43 of at least one locking unit 42 among the three locking units 42 is engaged with a space between the teeth.
