PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultraviolet disinfection device capable of ensuring a proper ultraviolet intensity corresponding to the fluctuations in the inflow amount of water to be treated or the lowering of ultraviolet transmittance to realize the control of the proper exposure of ultraviolet rays. SOLUTION: The ultraviolet disinfection device is constituted so as to irradiate water to be treated with ultraviolet rays to disinfect the same and equipped with a controller 13 for calculating the intensity of ultraviolet rays proper to disinfection on the basis of the inflow amount of the water 1 to be treated and executing the adjustment of the intensity of the ultraviolet rays including the control of the lights-on or lights-out of an ultraviolet emission source on the basis of the intensity of the ultraviolet rays.
