<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To supply electric power to an external device through a parallel port connector. <P>SOLUTION: A notebook computer 10 includes supplying electric power to a parallel port floppy drive through the parallel port connector 48. The computer 10 has a power switching circuit 30 detecting whether a printer or the floppy drive is connected to the parallel port connector 48. If the floppy drive 24 is connected, the electric power is enabled through the parallel port connector 48.
