PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an eye-safe laser light source having high radiation intensity and large apparent light source diameter. SOLUTION: This light source comprises a semiconductor laser device, a light scattering region provided in the area traversed by the laser light emitted from the semiconductor laser device to reach the external space, and an optical guiding unit provided on the external space side of the light scattering region. The optical guiding unit comprises a first region located on the semiconductor laser device side, and a second region located on the external space side, and the refractive index of the first region is smaller than that of the second region.
