PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compressor capable of preventing generation of noises caused by operation of an inlet valve and improving intake efficiency of refrigerant into a cylinder bore, and superior in reliability and durability. SOLUTION: The compressor comprises a cylinder block having the cylinder bore in which a piston is provided for reciprocating motion, a valve plate partitioning the cylinder bore and an inlet chamber, an inlet hole formed in the valve plate for providing communication of the cylinder bore and the inlet chamber, the inlet valve comprised of a lead valve for opening and closing the inlet hole, and a stopper part formed on an inner wall of the cylinder bore, which a tip portion of the inlet valve is brought into contact with to regulate an opening of the inlet valve to the cylinder bore. The compressor is characterized in that a contact surface of the stopper part which the tip portion of the inlet valve is brought into contact with is formed in an inclined surface in which a portion of the cylinder bore inner than a radially outer portion is inclined in a direction toward a bottom dead center side of the piston.
